Product selection example#
Choose a recommendation type#

| Featured product / Product showcase | Explicitly select a product to feature in a section. |
| Featured products | Select a collection to populate the carousel. |
| Editorial product edit | Build an editorial composition with explicit product selections. |
| Related products | Display Shopify-powered recommendations for the current product where supplied. |
| Complementary products | Display products configured/available as complementary recommendations through Shopify. |
Configure and test#
- Add the appropriate section to the relevant template.
- Connect the product, collection or recommendation configuration.
- Preview a real product, then another product that should have different recommendations.
- Check the empty state when no recommendation is returned.
Recommendation availability and ordering can depend on Shopify’s service and Search & Discovery configuration. An empty response is not a request to duplicate unrelated products or insert invented recommendations.
